I’ve got two little girls, Violet who is now 19 months and Pearl who is seven weeks, so I’m knee-deep in my second go at the fourth trimester. I thought as a second-time Mum this time would be a breeze, but it’s still as intense as the first time just in a different way – I now have two little ones under two and every baby is different. Motherhood likes to keep us on our toes, doesn’t it? There is always something new to learn.
The fourth trimester is an intense, transitional time that is not spoken about often enough. It’s the first three months after birth, where your baby goes through some of their biggest developmental changes as they adjust to life outside the womb. They will need your undivided attention and rely on you for absolutely everything. Plus, as parents you’ll be the most exhausted you’ve ever felt, and it’s a huge life-changing adjustment too.
So today I wanted to talk about my experience of the fourth trimester and lend you some tips and products that have got me by. Luckily, you can prepare for this time and kit yourself out with a few essentials that will make this time so much more comfortable and easy when the baby arrives, plus you’ll be rewarded with all those gorgeous newborn snuggles too.
