Bathtime is one of my favourite times of day, it’s separate from the rest of the day somehow, isn’t it? No matter what else has gone on in the day, this is a time for fun and is so much more than getting my little boy Wills clean.
It would be very easy to put him into the bath, get him washed, dried and put him to bed. But bathtime is a great way to bond with your baby and teach them through play – something I am very passionate about.
We make sure that there are plenty of toys and objects in the bath that can inspire play and develop his imagination. Something simple like a jug can teach them cause and effect, empty and full and of course, you can sing I’m a little teapot too!
One of his favourite things to do is fill up little containers and pour the water out – honestly, he will do it over and over again and never gets bored – you can see his little mind whirring!
We love singing and row row your boat is one of his all-time favourites. Singing is something we do all day but bathtime means we can play with boats too!
By making bathtime a fun experience, it will hopefully make things like hair-washing less stressful and mean that they look forward to that part of the day.
It is also an important part of our bedtime routine and relaxes him ready for a good night’s sleep – something we all want as parents, don’t we?
We’ve made a little video to show you the fun we have at bathtime…
