My baby boy Leo is nearly eight months old and so we’re well into weaning territory now.
It’s been a fun (and slightly messy!) couple of months but all things considered, it’s going incredibly well. Leo is eating a wide variety of foods and dare I say it, it’s getting a little easier week by week.
And yet I do understand how weaning can be seen as a pretty daunting experience. Particularly if you’re a first-time parent introduced to this new (and sometimes mind boggling) baby chapter.
Weaning for our little ones is all about exploration as they discover a whole new world of tastes, textures and food, but for us as the parent, it can sometimes seem loaded with confusion, worry and endless questions!
Whether you choose the more traditional puree approach, try out the now popular baby-led weaning option or do a bit of both (like us!) rest assured you’ll soon discover what works best for you and your baby.
But the most important thing – for both of you – is that weaning is a relaxed, fun and successful experience.
Here are some of my top tips (plus an odd trick or two!) to help you get started on your weaning journey. Good luck!
