How to deal with sibling rivalry

You aren’t really going to know until the day you bring your newborn home, but here are some tips to help make the transition from being an only child to a big brother/sister slightly easier.

By ensuring enough time lapses between your child being moved from cot to bed and going to crèche and the newborn coming home, you will hopefully lessen the risk of any feelings of resentment your child may have towards her sibling.

Remain consistent with the way you treat your child, this will only help to reinforce security in her little life and this will in itself make accepting a sibling a little easier.
